This insurance replaces lost income if you cannot work as much as before - lost ability to earn income - due to an accident at work. The disability compensation is calculated based on how much you earned before the injury or illness, and the extent of your disability.
In order to receive disability compensation, you must meet certain conditions:
The injury or illness must be recognized as an occupational injury according to the Occupational Injury Insurance Act. This means that it must have occurred in connection with your work. You must have been at the workplace during working hours when the injury or illness occurred
The disability allowance is paid as a tax-free lump sum. How much you get depends on your age, your income and your level of disability.
In the table below you can see compensation amounts for certain ages (alder) and incomes (inntekt). This table is based on 100% work disability and a basic amount in the national insurance (Norwegian Only). The basic amount increases every year, the compensation amounts will then increase accordingly.
The table is based on 100% work disability. Lower degree of disability will reduce the compensation proportionately.
The red ring shows the compensation amount for a 45-year-old with an income of up to 7 times the National Insurance basic amount.
